And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.

It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.

And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of the LORD:

Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD's house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.

It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.

And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD's house.

And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.

Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD's house, in the ears of all the people.

When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the LORD,

Then he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber: and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.

Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.

And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.

Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.

And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?

Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.

Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be.

And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.

So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe's chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.

Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.

And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.

But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: but the LORD hid them.

Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.

Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.

　　耶 36 章 > 第 36 章的背景是怎样的？　

　　36 章　这事发生在公元前 605 年的夏天，即尼布甲尼撒王在迦基米施一役击败埃及军队不久之后。这章纪录的事件比前两章所记的事件发生得要早。　

　　耶 36:2-4> 文士在古代犹大社会中是扮演什么角色？抄录文件的方式又是怎样的？　

　　36:2-4　古时大部分人都是文盲，所以读书人非常宝贵，受人尊敬。文士的地位就更加崇高，他们的知识和学问都备受尊崇。巴录是耶利米的文士。当时的人大都用羔羊皮和蒲草纸记录文字，然后把一张张的羊皮或蒲草纸缝起来或黏合成一卷卷的书，称之为卷轴。以色列人被掳之后，文士成为律法教师，讲解旧约律法。在新约时代，文士更形成为很有权力的政治团体。　

　　耶 36:9> 耶利米预言巴比伦入侵一事已迫在眉睫，假若我身处当时的境况，我会怎样面对？　

　　36:9　在危急存亡的关头，各国都会宣告禁食的日子，呼吁人民谦卑悔改，求主怜悯。巴比伦来势汹汹地攻打犹大，势如破竹，步步逼近耶路撒冷，巴录趁百姓齐集在圣殿时宣读耶利米的话，告诉大家如何改变灾难将临的命运，可惜他们完全不肯听从。　

　　耶 36:10-32> 犹大自臣民至君王均对神的话置若罔闻，今天大多数人也是如此，我可以做什么？　

　　36:10-32　神吩咐耶利米把祂的话写在书卷上，但由于耶利米本人不获准进入圣殿，故他将要说的话叫文士巴录记在书卷上，然后念给在圣殿里的人听。结果，巴录读给一些官员听，而犹底更亲自念给约雅敬王听。虽然王将书卷焚毁了，但他却不能消灭神的话语。今日仍有许多人对神的话置若罔闻，或说圣经有很多谬误、不值得相信。人可以拒绝听神说的话，但他们无法消灭它，因祂的话必永远坚立（参诗 119:89 ）。　

　　耶 36:22> 36:22　火盆是用来装烧着的炭的，古代人以这方法取暖。　

　　耶 36:25> 犹大的领导层中，为什么肯站出来阻止王焚烧先知话语书卷的人这么少？　

　　36:25　只有三位领袖反对约雅敬王焚烧书卷的恶行，可见当时的人是多么的自以为是，对神是多么的麻木！　

　　耶 36:30> 大卫家一脉从此结束，直至弥赛亚降临掌权……　

　　36:30　约雅敬的儿子约雅斤在被掳之前曾作过三个月皇帝，但“坐在大卫的宝座上”一语有恒久掌权之义，所以约雅斤根本算不上“坐在大卫的宝座上”。约雅敬的王朝到了西底家时已传到约雅斤的叔叔手上，由大卫的儿子所罗门一脉相传的王权至此完结。但经过不到六百年，从所罗门的兄弟拿单的后裔中终于诞生了一位永恒之君（参 22:30 的注释）。──《灵修版圣经注释》

　　三十六 1-32 约雅敬不接纳耶利米的话　

　　约雅敬在位时，耶利米和那些权贵发生冲突，他们对耶利米的圣殿讲章产生强烈的反感（耶二十六）。本章的记载便是接续那事件，并转回到官方拒绝先知的话的主题上。耶利米明显地是被禁止进入圣殿（ 5 节）。无疑地，这是那些谋害他的人和那些支持他的人所达成的协议。这禁令是十分严重的，因为它不单禁止耶利米在官员中的活动，而且使他不能在重要的场合到圣殿去与群众会面。　

　　因此，耶和华命令耶利米将祂说过的一切话写在一个书卷上（ 2 节），以致他们可以在耶利米不在的时候读出来。（耶利米所记下的，包括了那些惊讶的官员的提问，以及巴录的回答。）巴录本是先知的书记，但现在的转变使他必须代表先知发言。这时是一个拥挤的禁食日子，巴录所作的看来就是重复耶利米当日宣讲圣殿讲章的情形，向人发出挑战的信息（ 6-10 节，二十六 2-6 ；比较七 1-15 ）。因此，巴录所作的需要有同样的委身和勇气，正如他的主人一样。再次地，沙番一家也在此事中出现，为耶利米的说话争取聆讯的机会（ 10 节；比较二十六 24 ）。　

　　宣读耶利米的说话所产生的实时后果是显着的，因为透过沙番一家的行动，某些领导层的官员也受到影响。这书卷记录的内容可能促进了其影响力，其中的记载大概是集合了许多不同的说话（ 15-18 节）。　

　　那些官员在惊愕中决定要第三次宣读那书卷，这次是在王的面前。但王和他的亲属的反应却截然不同于那些将书卷带给他的官员。此处特别强调了他对先知的话的漠视，他的态度使人惊奇（ 24 节；比较 16 节）！他并且用火焚烧书卷，使到以利拿单、基玛利雅和第革雅大大吃惊，认为这是亵渎的行动。但这行动对王来说，不单表示对书卷的蔑视，更可能是一种迷信的行为，企图要毁灭那话语的能力。　

　　王的行动亦造成了另一个对比，就是他父亲约西亚王在从前也曾听见人向他宣读那在圣殿中发现的律法书（王下二十二 8-13 ）。在那次的事件中，沙番本人也刚巧在其中担任一个重要角色。　

　　要毁灭神话语的尝试是枉然的，神于是吩咐耶利米再写另一书卷（ 28 节），并特别加上审判约雅敬的说话，这是因着他的不敬虔而引来的。这审判的话明确地表示神弃绝了那由戴维传递给所罗门王国的应许（ 30 节；比较王上二 4 ）；而且它也重复了以前说过的预言，就是王必得不到安葬（ 30 下；参参二十二 19 ）。　

　　这新的书卷包含了其它的说话，是第一卷所没有的（ 32 节），它的内容大概是包括了耶利米后来的传道事工，并且这事也见证了耶利米的说话开始被记录和收集下来。　

耶利米书第卅六章　　三十六 1 ～ 32. 　书卷的写作　

　　这宝贵的篇章让我们得以了解，耶利米的预言如何笔录成书卷。在约雅敬作王初期，神吩咐先知写下神谕。书卷写成后，先知又不断向众人宣读其内容，最后书卷被忿怒的约雅敬王所毁。神稍后指示耶利米重新编写他传讲的信息，且附加上增添的话。　

　　1 ～ 7. 　第一卷书卷是在公元前六○五／四年笔录下来，同年巴比伦在与埃及的争战中，取得决定性的胜利。也许灾祸的开始加速了神谕的编写，以期犹大能够悔改。书卷可能是一张和书的长度相当的羊皮纸（参：诗四十 7 ；结二 9 ）。古时希伯来的书籍是以平行的直栏写成，所以阅读时书卷必然要慢慢开展。此书卷的内容并无法得知，可能是公元前六二六年至六○五年间，先知所宣告的信息之文集。与现存的耶利米书相较，此书卷显然短少许多，因为它可在一日之内被念完三次（ 10 、 15 、 21 节）。尼利亚的儿子巴录（ 4 节），就是西底家之王宫大臣西莱雅的兄弟（五十一 59 ）。巴录于三十二 12 、 13 首次被提及。巴录是耶利米的随员，他忠心事奉主人（三十六 10 ），写下耶利米的预言（三十六 4 、 32 ），并在大庭广众下大声念出这些预言（三十六 10 ～ 15 ）。耶路撒冷陷落后，巴录和耶利米一起住在麦斯法撒（ Masphatha ），而当基大利被暗杀时，巴录因被指挑唆耶利米离去而被捕（四十三 3 ）。根据四十三 6 ，巴录随着耶利米前往埃及，之后两人显然都死于该地。在整卷耶利米书中，巴录均被描述为耶利米的书记，而非耶利米书的编辑。用以形容耶利米受拘管的希伯来文动词 `a{s]u^r （ 5 节），亦见于三十三 1 和三十九 15 ，意指身体被禁锢或被捕。但这却非此处的意思，因为 19 节显示耶利米仍可自由地依己意躲藏起来。于是巴录就代替耶利米，好让圣殿附近的百姓仍可听到回转和悔改的呼吁。读者当注意预言是有条件的，如果众民在听了书卷的内容后仍不彻底悔改，那么犹太人的灭亡便已然注定。　

　　8 ～ 10. 　从 9 节看来，在国家面临危机时，朝野会宣告禁食。此处的九月就是公元前六○四年十二月，当时巴比伦军队攻陷位于巴勒斯坦平原的亚实基伦，此事件极可能引发以色列人的禁食。七十士译本将 9 节下缩短了一些。基玛利雅是沙番的儿子，而沙番在约西亚作王时曾任王的书记（王下二十二 3 、 8 ）。如果沙番和耶利米书二十六 24 中所提到的为同一人，那么基玛利雅和曾大力保护耶利米的亚希甘便是兄弟。基玛利雅这种名字在公元前七世纪甚为普遍，拉吉出土的信件中（瓦片文 I ）提到“希西亚户（ Hissilyahu ）的儿子基玛利雅”（大约公元前 589 年）。上院就是列王纪上六 36 ，七 12 所说的内院。　

　　11 ～ 19. 　向首领宣读书卷　

　　既然基玛利雅参加了当时众首领的秘密会议（ 12 节），他很可能指示自己的儿子报告他所听见宣读的内容和性质。如果文士以利沙玛和耶利米书四十一 1 以及列王纪下二十五 25 的以利沙玛为同一人，那么他便是王室后裔。亚革波的儿子以利拿单在耶利米书二十六 22 亦曾被提及。这里其他的与会人士，除了沙番的儿子基玛利雅之外，均不可考。古示的曾孙示利米雅的孙子尼探雅的儿子犹底，除此之外名不见经传，但在当时必然是位举足轻重的人物，否则其家谱不会追溯到前三代。众首领吩咐巴录在他们当中坐下，显见他们对巴录的友善态度，而巴录自己很可能亦是出身于上流社会的家庭。众首领对巴录以礼相待，可能意味着耶利米在犹大首领中有其追随者。他们听见书卷的宣读后甚为忧虑，故而必须立即向王报告此事。巴录在此证实了这文件的真实性，书卷是他亲自以笔墨写成的。 69　之后众首领开始为耶利米和巴录的安危担忧，显然是记取了乌利亚事件的教训（二十六 23 ），因为负责把乌利亚抓回国的亚革波之子以利拿单（二十六 20 ～ 23 ），当时亦在场与会。犹太人传统上认为耶利米藏身之处──“耶利米的洞穴”──位于大马色门之外，惟正确性有待查考。　

　　20 ～ 26. 　王聆听书卷　

　　以利沙玛无疑已预期专横的约雅敬听后反应不佳。约雅敬当时居住在过冬的房屋里。希伯来文的 bayit[ 有时候指建筑物的一部分（参：代上二十八 11 ；结四十六 24 ）。以两层楼的房屋而言，地面的一层通常用于冬天居住；而楼上的那层一般则因通风良好，较多于夏日酷热时使用。这里烧着火的火盆乃是用来在寒冬取暖。七十士译本读作 w#~e{s% ，“且其中的火”（ 22 节），有别于马索拉经文的 we~e{t ，这乃是直接受词记号，通常不译。旧约亚兰文译本则和马索拉经文一致，此译文显然较七十士译本的解说为佳。犹底每念了三四行，王便割下念过的部分并将之烧掉，于是整卷书卷就如此烧尽了。文士的刀是用以削或修理芦杆笔的，并可拿来裁剪蒲草纸卷。约雅敬和其臣仆的厚颜反抗，和约西亚对发现律法书、并听闻书中内容的回应，成了强烈的对比（王下二十二 11 ）。王的儿子耶拉篾（ 26 节）此一称号，可能意指他是王的直系子孙，因此是王室首领，又或者他是王室贵胄中的一员（参耶三十九 6 ；王上二十二 26 ；番一 8 ）。马索拉经文在此说得十分清楚──若非神的看顾，耶利米和巴录将和乌利亚同一命运。相反地七十士译本却作“他们却将自己隐藏”。　

　　27 ～ 32. 　另写一书卷　

　　在原来的书卷被烧后多久先知才另写一书卷，并不得而知，但很可能最多不过在数月之后。另写的书卷将编入添加的资料，记载约雅敬这不敬虔的王将遭逢的下场。因为约雅敬烧毁原来的警告书卷，神必惩罚他没有后裔长久作王。果然，约雅敬的儿子约雅斤在位不及三个月就被掳（代下三十六 9 ）。 30 节所说的并无历史记载可考，而列王纪下二十四 6 亦未提及约雅敬埋葬的情形。约雅敬在拒绝神的话语一事上，和其子民同等罪孽深重，故而他的下场亦代表了全国的命运。
